A Gaze Through the Lens

I hold a selfie stick and try to film the folds and soft flesh on my back—a part of my body that looks strange and unfamiliar on the screen. This area feels like something I can’t fully control and can only see with help from a tool. The camera works like a third eye, letting me look at what I normally can’t see. But it also makes me feel distant from my own body. As the view pulls back, I wonder—am I just an object to look at? Or is this a way to understand myself better and fix things I didn’t notice before? This work shows my worries about how I look and my wish to control how others see my body.
